Working Principle
In an ideal air compression process, the power needed for single-stage compression equals the combined power demand of multi-stage compression. However, actual operations witness increased power usage due to inefficiencies like coupling transmission power loss, bearing friction, and cooling effects from liquid viscosity. By lowering the compression ratio at each stage, multi-stage compression can significantly reduce total power requirements compared to single-stage compression, thus minimizing these inherent losses.
The two-stage screw air compressor is ingeniously designed with a two-stage rotary screw mechanism. Each stage comprises an active and a passive screw, where the active screw propels the passive one through an external power transmission device. The first stage features a low-pressure screw group, while the second stage operates with a high-pressure screw group. These screws are enveloped in a sealing air film. As they rotate, the gas undergoes a three-phase transformation: suction, pressurization, and exhaust.
First Stage Compression: The initial compression stage employs a low-pressure screw group to compress the gas. This gas enters the screw compression chamber through the suction valve. With the high-speed rotation of the screw rotor, the gas is progressively squeezed and then transferred to the second stage.
Second Stage Compression: In this stage, the gas moves into a more confined screw space, where it is subjected to higher temperatures and pressures. The exhaust valve then opens to release the high-pressure gases from the system.
Natural air is filtered before entering the first compression stage, where it combines with lubricating oil in the compression chamber. This mixture is compressed to interstage pressure and then cooled via a cooling channel, which exposes it to abundant oil mist, significantly reducing its temperature. The cooled gas then enters the second-stage rotor for further compression, ultimately being expelled through the exhaust valve, completing the entire compression cycle.
Water-cooled compressors harness the cooling prowess of water, circulating it through the air compressor to not only enhance lubrication by cleansing internal components but also extend the lifespan of friction-prone parts. During operation, this cooling water masterfully dissipates heat from the cylinder and compressed gas, dramatically lowering exhaust temperature and reducing power consumption, leading to significant operational cost savings. It's crucial, however, to be mindful of potential scaling within the water cooling system.
