Working Principle
In an ideal air compression process, the power required for single-stage pressure transmission equals the sum of the power needed for multi-stage compression. However, in reality, this process encounters increased working power due to transmission power loss, bearing friction, and liquid viscosity cooling effects. By reducing the compression ratio at each stage, unnecessary power consumption can be minimized, making the total power for multi-stage compression less than that of single-stage compression.
The two-stage screw air compressor features a two-stage rotary screw system, each comprising an active and a passive screw. The active screw drives the passive screw via an external power transmission device. In this system, the first stage involves a low-pressure rate screw group, while the second stage operates at a high-pressure rate. Each screw is surrounded by a sealing air film. During rotation, gas undergoes a three-step process of suction, pressurization, and exhaust.
First Stage Compression: The first stage of the two-stage screw air compressor utilizes a low-pressure rate screw group. Gas is drawn into the compression chamber through the suction valve and is squeezed progressively by the high-speed rotating screw rotor, readying it for the second stage.
Second Stage Compression: In the second stage screw group, gas is further compressed in an even tighter screw space at higher temperature and pressure. The exhaust valve then opens to release the high-pressure gas from the system.
Natural air enters the first stage of compression via an air filter, mixing with a small amount of lubricating oil in the compression chamber. This mixed gas is compressed to interstage pressure, then enters the cooling channel where it encounters a substantial amount of oil mist, significantly lowering its temperature. The cooled gas proceeds to the second-stage rotor, undergoing final compression before being discharged through the exhaust valve, completing the entire compression cycle.
Water-cooled compressors harness the power of water as a cooling medium. By allowing cooling water to flow inside the air compressor, it not only performs a vital cleaning role but also enhances lubrication, thereby extending the lifespan of friction-wearing parts. During operation, the cooling water effectively removes heat from the cylinder and the compressed gas, significantly lowering exhaust temperatures and power consumption, which in turn reduces the operating costs of the air compressor. However, users must be vigilant about the potential scaling issues in the water cooling system.
