Working Principle
In an ideal air compression scenario, the power needed for single-stage pressure transmission equals the sum required for multi-stage compression. However, in practical applications, actual operational power increases due to inefficiencies like power loss from coupling, bearing friction, and the cooling effects of liquid viscosity. By minimizing the compression ratio at each stage, the total power for multi-stage compression can be reduced compared to single-stage compression, effectively diminishing these inefficiencies.
The two-stage screw air compressor features a dual-stage rotary screw mechanism. Each stage contains an active and a passive screw, with the active screw driving the passive one via an external power transmission device. The first stage uses a low-pressure screw group, while the second stage employs a high-pressure screw group. Each screw rotates within an air-tight seal. During rotation, the gas undergoes three stages of compression: suction, pressurization, and exhaust.
First Stage Compression: The initial stage utilizes a low-pressure screw group to compress the gas. Gas enters the compression chamber through the suction valve. Under the high-speed rotation of the screw rotor, the gas is progressively compressed and then transferred to the second stage.
Second Stage Compression: At this stage, the gas moves into a more confined screw space where it is compressed at higher temperatures and pressures. The exhaust valve opens to release the high-pressure gas from the system.
Natural air is filtered before entering the first stage of compression, where it mixes with a small amount of lubricating oil in the compression chamber. This mixture is compressed to interstage pressure. The compressed gas passes through a cooling channel and contacts a significant amount of oil mist, lowering its temperature. The cooled gas enters the second-stage rotor for further compression and is ultimately expelled through the exhaust valve, completing the entire compression process.
Water-cooled compressors utilize the remarkable cooling power of water to enhance performance. As the cooling water circulates through the air compressor, it effectively cleans internal components, boosts lubrication, and extends the lifespan of friction-wearing parts. During operation, this water efficiently dissipates heat from the cylinder and compressed gas, significantly reducing exhaust temperature and power consumption, thereby minimizing operational costs. However, users must be vigilant about potential scaling issues within the water cooling system.
