Working Principle
In an ideal air compression process, the power required for single-stage pressure transmission is equivalent to the sum needed for multi-stage compression. However, in real-world applications, actual working power increases due to various inefficiencies such as coupling transmission power loss, bearing friction, and liquid viscosity cooling effects. By reducing the compression ratio at each stage, the total power required for multi-stage compression can be made less than that for single-stage compression, effectively minimizing these losses.
The two-stage screw air compressor consists of a two-stage rotary screw mechanism. Each stage features an active and a passive screw, with the active screw driving the passive screw through an external power transmission device. The first stage employs a low-pressure rate screw group, while the second stage uses a high-pressure rate screw group. Each screw is encased in a sealing air film. As they rotate, the gas is compressed through three stages: suction, pressurization, and exhaust.
First Stage Compression: The initial stage utilizes a low-pressure rate screw group, compressing the gas between them. Gas enters the screw compression chamber via the suction valve. Under the high-speed rotation of the screw rotor, the gas is progressively squeezed out and transferred to the second stage.
Second Stage Compression: In the second stage, the gas moves into a more confined screw space, where it is compressed at higher temperatures and pressures. The exhaust valve then opens, expelling high-pressure gases from the system.
Natural air is filtered before entering the first stage of compression, where it mixes with a small amount of lubricating oil in the compression chamber. This mixture is compressed to the interstage pressure. The compressed gas then passes through a cooling channel, where it contacts a large amount of oil mist, significantly lowering its temperature. The cooled gas enters the second-stage rotor, undergoes further compression, and is ultimately expelled through the exhaust valve to complete the entire compression process.
Water-cooled compressors leverage the power of water as a cooling medium. As the cooling water circulates through the air compressor, it not only enhances lubrication by cleaning internal components but also extends the life of friction-wearing parts. During compressor operation, the cooling water efficiently dissipates heat from the cylinder and compressed gas, significantly reducing exhaust temperature and power consumption, thereby lowering operational costs. However, attention must be given to the potential scaling issues within the water cooling system.
