In an ideal air compression process, the power required for single-stage pressure transmission equals the sum needed for multi-stage compression. However, during actual compression, the working power increases due to various factors such as coupling transmission power loss, bearing friction, and the cooling effect of liquid viscosity. To mitigate this, reducing the compression ratio of each stage can lower useless power, thus making the total power required for multi-stage compression less than that for single-stage compression.
The advanced two-stage screw air compressor features a two-stage rotary screw mechanism with active and passive screws in each stage. The active screw drives the passive one through an external power transmission device. The first stage employs a low-pressure screw group, while the second stage uses a high-pressure screw group. Each screw is enveloped by a sealing air film. During rotation, gas undergoes three processes: suction, pressurization, and exhaust, ensuring optimal compression.
First Stage Compression: The initial stage of the two-stage screw air compressor utilizes a low-pressure screw group to squeeze the gas. Gas enters the screw compression chamber through the suction valve, where the high-speed rotation of the screw rotor gradually compresses and transfers it to the second stage.
Second Stage Compression: In the second screw group, gas enters a tighter screw space, where it is compressed at higher temperature and pressure. The exhaust valve opens to release the high-pressure gases from the system.
Natural air is drawn into the first compression stage through an air filter, mixing with a small amount of lubricating oil in the compression chamber. This mixed gas is compressed to interstage pressure and then enters the cooling channel, encountering a significant amount of oil mist that greatly reduces its temperature. The cooled gas moves to the second-stage rotor for final compression to exhaust pressure. Finally, the compressor discharges the gas through the exhaust valve, completing the compression process.
Water-cooled compressors utilize water as the cooling medium. As cooling water circulates within the air compressor, it performs a cleaning function that aids lubrication, extending the life of friction-wearing components. During operation, cooling water removes heat from the cylinder and compressed gas, effectively lowering exhaust temperature and power consumption, thereby reducing operational costs. However, attention should be given to potential scaling issues within the water cooling system.
