Working Principle
In an ideal air compression scenario, the energy required for single-stage pressure transmission matches that of multi-stage compression. However, in practical applications, the actual power demand rises due to inefficiencies like coupling transmission power loss, bearing friction, and the cooling effects of liquid viscosity. By minimizing the compression ratio at each stage, the total power needed for multi-stage compression can be significantly reduced compared to single-stage compression, thereby effectively reducing these losses.
The two-stage screw air compressor features a sophisticated two-stage rotary screw mechanism. Each stage includes both an active and a passive screw, with the active screw driving the passive screw via an external power transmission device. The first stage utilizes a low-pressure screw group, while the second stage employs a high-pressure screw group. Each screw is encapsulated within a sealing air film, and as they rotate, the gas is compressed through three distinct phases: suction, pressurization, and exhaust.
First Stage Compression: In the initial stage, a low-pressure screw group compresses the gas between them. The gas enters the screw compression chamber through the suction valve. Under the high-speed rotation of the screw rotor, the gas is incrementally compressed and then moved to the second stage.
Second Stage Compression: During the second stage, the gas is transferred into a more confined screw space for higher compression at elevated temperatures and pressures. The exhaust valve then opens, releasing the high-pressure gases from the system.
Natural air is filtered before it enters the first stage of compression, where it mixes with a small amount of lubricating oil in the compression chamber. This mixture is then compressed to the interstage pressure. The compressed gas flows through a cooling channel, contacting a substantial amount of oil mist, which significantly lowers its temperature. The cooled gas is then directed into the second-stage rotor, where it undergoes further compression before being expelled through the exhaust valve, thus completing the entire compression process.
Water-cooled compressors harness the exceptional cooling power of water. As the cooling water circulates through the compressor, it not only enhances lubrication by cleansing internal components but also significantly prolongs the lifespan of friction-prone parts. During operation, this efficient system dissipates heat from both the cylinder and compressed gas, dramatically lowering exhaust temperature and power consumption. This results in reduced operational costs. However, it is crucial to monitor for potential scaling issues within the water cooling system.
