Working Principle
In an ideal air compression scenario, the energy required for single-stage compression equals the sum of the power needed for multi-stage compression. However, real-world conditions introduce additional power demands due to factors such as coupling transmission losses, bearing friction, and the cooling effects of liquid viscosity. Consequently, by minimizing the compression ratio at each stage, we can reduce unnecessary power consumption, making multi-stage compression more energy-efficient than single-stage compression.
The two-stage screw air compressor features a pair of rotary screw compressors for each stage. Each stage consists of an active screw, which drives a passive screw through an external power transmission mechanism. The first stage employs a low-pressure screw group, while the second stage utilizes a high-pressure screw group. Surrounding each screw is a sealing air film. During operation, the gas undergoes three processes-suction, pressurization, and exhaust-resulting in efficient compression.
First Stage Compression: The initial stage of the two-stage screw air compressor uses a low-pressure screw group to compress the gas. The gas is drawn into the screw compression chamber via the suction valve. As the screw rotor spins at high speed, the gas is gradually compressed and transferred to the second stage.
Second Stage Compression: Within the second stage, the gas is further compressed in a tighter screw space, subject to higher temperature and pressure. The exhaust valve opens to release the high-pressure gas, completing the second stage of compression.
Initially, natural air is drawn into the first stage of compression via an air filter. Here, it mixes with a small amount of lubricating oil in the compression chamber and is compressed to interstage pressure. The compressed gas then passes through a cooling channel, where it encounters substantial oil mist, significantly reducing its temperature. This cooled, compressed gas enters the second-stage rotor for two-stage compression, ultimately reaching the final exhaust pressure before being expelled through the exhaust valve, completing the compression process.
