Working Principle
In an ideal air compression scenario, the power needed for single-stage pressure transmission equates to the cumulative power required for multi-stage compression. However, real-world compression factors such as coupling transmission power losses, bearing friction coefficients, and the cooling effect of liquid viscosity contribute to increased actual working power. By reducing the compression ratio for each stage, unnecessary power consumption can be minimized, making the total power required for multi-stage compression less than that for single-stage compression.
The two-stage screw air compressor features a dual-stage rotary screw configuration. Each stage comprises an active and a passive screw, with the active screw driving the passive screw via an external power transmission mechanism. The first stage employs a low-pressure rate screw assembly, while the second stage uses a high-pressure rate screw assembly. A sealing air film envelops each screw, and as they rotate, the gas undergoes three key processes: suction, pressurization, and exhaust.
First Stage Compression: Utilizing a low-pressure rate screw assembly, the two-stage screw air compressor's first stage compresses gas by trapping it between screws. The gas enters the compression chamber through the suction valve, and under the high-speed rotation of the screw rotor, it is progressively compressed and transferred to the second stage.
Second Stage Compression: In the second stage, the gas enters a more confined screw space, where it is compressed at higher temperatures and pressures. The exhaust valve then opens to expel the high-pressure gas from the system.
Natural air is drawn into the first compression stage through an air filter, where it mixes with a small amount of lubricating oil. In the compression chamber, this mixture is compressed to interstage pressure. The compressed gas then flows into the cooling channel, where it contacts a substantial amount of oil mist, significantly lowering its temperature. The cooled gas enters the second-stage rotor for further compression to the final exhaust pressure. The entire compression cycle is completed as the gas is expelled through the exhaust valve.
Water-cooled compressors leverage water as the cooling medium, offering both cleaning and lubrication benefits that significantly extend the life of friction-wearing parts. During operation, cooling water helps dissipate heat from the cylinder and compressed gas, effectively lowering exhaust temperatures and power consumption, thereby reducing overall operating costs. However, it's crucial to monitor and manage scaling in the water cooling system to ensure optimal performance.
