Working Principle
In an ideal air compression process, the power required for single-stage pressure transmission equals the total power needed for multi-stage compression. However, due to factors like coupling power loss, bearing friction, and liquid viscosity in real-world scenarios, the actual working power increases. By lowering the compression ratio for each stage, the useless power is minimized, making the total power required for multi-stage compression less than that for single-stage compression.
The two-stage screw air compressor features a dual-rotary screw configuration. Each stage includes an active screw and a passive screw, with the active screw driving the passive screw through an external power transmission device. The first stage employs a low-pressure rate screw, while the second stage uses a high-pressure rate screw. Sealing air films surround each screw. As they rotate, gas undergoes three processes: suction, pressurization, and exhaust.
First Stage Compression: The first stage employs a low-pressure rate screw set. The gas is drawn into the screw compression chamber via a suction valve and, under the high-speed rotation of the screw rotor, is gradually compressed and transferred to the second stage.
Second Stage Compression: In the second stage, the gas enters a tighter screw space, subjected to higher temperature and pressure compression. The exhaust valve then opens, releasing the high-pressure gas from the system.
Operational Process: Ambient air is filtered and enters the first compression stage, mixing with a small amount of lubricating oil. This mixture is compressed to the interstage pressure. The compressed gas then passes through a cooling channel, encountering a large oil mist that significantly lowers its temperature. The cooled gas enters the second-stage rotor for final compression to the exhaust pressure. The exhaust valve discharges the gas, completing the compression process.
Water-cooled compressors harness the power of water as a cooling medium. As cooling water circulates within the air compressor, it not only purifies but also enhances lubrication, significantly extending the lifespan of friction-wearing parts. During operation, this cooling water absorbs and dissipates heat from the cylinder and compressed gas, thereby effectively lowering exhaust temperatures and reducing power consumption. This results in diminished operational costs. However, attention must be given to potential scaling within the water cooling system.
