In an optimal air compression environment, the energy required for single-stage pressure transfer is equivalent to the combined energy needed for multi-stage compression. However, practical considerations such as coupling power losses, bearing friction, and fluid viscosity cooling result in greater operational power demands. By minimizing the compression ratio per stage, these inefficiencies are mitigated. Therefore, the total power consumption for multi-stage compression is lower than that of single-stage compression.
